We at Haleakala Distillers are committed to operate in an environmentally friendly manner, regardless of cost, regardless of difficulty. We do not just talk about it, our actions speak for us; we hope they speak LOUDLY!
One example, very obvious to anyone cruising the roads of Maui, is our delivery vehicle. We operate the van which gets the absolutely best fuel economy of any van available. It is a 2005 Dodge Sprinter Diesel van. Even though the van can hold hundreds of cases of product, it gets over 26 miles per gallon in everyday service. And we don't burn any fossil fuels in this vehicle! We only burn BIODIESEL, recycled cooking oil, made by Pacific Biodiesel, Kahului, Maui. If you are interested, their URL is:

PACIFIC BIODIESEL-
If you have been on Maui and eaten French Fries or any fried food, the waste cooking oil did not end up in the ocean, the water table or even the landfill (at least for the last decade or so). It ended up at Pacific Biodiesel where it was processed into a replacement for expensive, non-renewable fossil diesel fuel, usually imported from somewhere else. From Pacific Biodiesel, it goes to us and companies like us, powering our fuel-efficient diesel work vehicles. It is a better fuel, a cleaner fuel, and a renewable fuel. We wouldn't use anything else!
If you would like to see a photo of our Sprinter van, it is below. We also operate a sales/customer service vehicle, a VW Jetta. It is fueled exclusively with Biodiesel as well. All future Haleakala Distillers vehicles will be fueled the same way.

If you click on the button to the far left, you will find our online store. All products shipped from this store are packed in recycled materials. We, like everyone else in the industry, used to use styrofoam, but have now found superior recycled paper and cardboard containers which are themselves very recyclable.
OUR PRODUCTS HAVE THE LOWEST CARBON FOOTPRINT IN THE INDUSTRY! We waste almost no energy. Byproducts which would be landfill waste in many other companies are used for energy. Everything used within the distillery which can be recycled is recycled. Our process water is returned to nearby cow pastures as a natural irrigation-applied fertilizer. Waste glass, metal, cardboard and other materials are taken to the Makawao recycling center. If you are enjoying Haleakala Distillers spirits, you need feel no guilt or concerns for the environment as a result of this choice.

Haleakala Distillers' Sales Vehicle
This 1.8 liter turbodiesel Jetta gets almost 40 miles per gallon in daily service, supporting our customers all over Maui. It also burns only used cooking oil. With the back seats folded down, the cavernous trunk can hold over 25 cases of product. The VW is a true World Car: Assembled in Mexico, engine from Argentina, manual transmission from Poland, all from a design originating in Germany. Amazing.
